Freddie Wayne Thompson

Freddie Wayne Thompson, 62, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in Odessa.

Memorial services will be from 2-4pm Sunday, April 27 at the First Baptist Church in De Soto.

He was born September 1, 1951, in Mount Vernon, to Frederick and Flora Thompson.

Fred, as a young man, was a police officer and chief of police in De Soto, and then spent many years as a coal miner in Franklin County.

In his 40s, he completed his education as a physical therapy assistant, working alongside his wife, JoAnn in many different venues.

He was truly loved by all!

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Thompson of Alpine; his father, Frederick Thompson of Vergennes; two daughters, Tracy Mueller and her husband, Chris Mueller of Carbondale, and Ginger Moss and her husband, Shad Moss of Manchester, Missouri; five siblings, Brenda Stapel of Murphysboro, Diane Tremblay and her husband, Dax Tremblay of Murphysboro, Paulette Dupuis of De Soto, Chuck Thompson and his wife, Gayla Thompson of Vergennes, and Elaine Lundeberg and her husband, John Lundeberg of Carbondale; and grandchildren, Lauren Mueller of Carbondale, and Brendan, Zachary and Dawson Moss of Manchester, Mo.; and several niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Flora Thompson; and brothers-in-law Richard Stapel of Murhysboro and Robert Dupuis of De Soto.

In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to American Cancer Society.
