Caroline Cecil

Caroline “Carrie” Cecil of Presidio passed from this life into Eternity at her home on the CC Ranch in South Presidio County, Texas.

Caroline Edna Louise Schaede was born July 1, 1923 to Mathilda Zabel Schaede and Carl Fred Schaede. She attended and graduated from Arthur Hill High School. She then continued her education at the Saginaw Business Institute where she trained in Accounting.

Carrie’s accounting career included positions at Castle Brothers and Western Steel in Flint, Michigan as well as positions at Bill Elms, CPA and Cecil’s Paraffin in Odessa, Texas.

After meeting in Durango, Mexico, Carrie married the love of her life, Charles L. Cecil Jr. They married in Carlsbad, New Mexico on August 28, 1967. Together, Carrie and Charlie owned and operated Cecil’s Paraffin, traveled extensively and later became actively retired on the CC Ranch.

Survivors include her grandson, Dr. Charles L. Cecil IV and his wife Lauren Cecil; great-granddaughters Channing, Holland and Reagan Cecil, all of Temple, Texas; her late husband’s daughters Suzie Barnes and her husband Danny of Port Hadlock, Washington and Glenda Zidek and husband Buck of Sacramento, California, granddaughter Suzanne, grandsons K. C. Ott, of Odessa, Texas and Phillip Zidek of Roseville, California as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Michigan.

Three special surviving nieces are Ginny St. Onge of Saginaw, Michigan, Marilyn Lesser of Gwinn, Michigan and Sue Lozier of Swartz Creek, Michigan.

Special surviving friends include Alberto and Concha Marquez of Presidio; Audrey Matchett of Andrews; and Becky Wainright of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carl F. Schaede; her mother, Mathilda Schaede; sisters Mary Shaede, Amanda Winistorf, Eleanor Lesser, Hulda Lesser, Frieda Venton, Ella Escalera and Dorothy Morris as well as her husband, Charles L. Cecil Jr.; and her late husband’s son, Charles L. Cecil III and his wife, Carrie Cecil.

Services were held February 13 at the First Baptist Church in Presidio with burial at the CC Ranch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Carrie may be honored with donations or memorials made to the Alpine Humane Society located at 2900 Old Marathon Road, Alpine, TX 79830 or the charity of your choice.
