Linda Henderson
Linda Nell Reynolds Henderson passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Friday, February 26th. She was born August 24th, 1943 in El Paso, Texas to Wood and Nell Reynolds. She is survived by her daughter: Julie Vickery (Eric) of Boerne, TX; son: Hank Henderson (Courtney) of Loveland, CO; sister: Anne Reich of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren: Andrew Henderson, Regan Henderson, Carlie Aguilar, Abbie Henderson, Hannah Henderson and Hud Vickery.
Linda spent her early childhood living on the family ranch in Chihuahua, Mexico before moving back to Texas. She and her husband, Jimmy Henderson, moved from El Paso to Del Rio in 1976.
Linda worked for the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce for 26 years, 18 of those as Executive Director. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi social sorority, and a member of St. James Episcopal Church, serving on both the Altar Guild and Vestry. Linda volunteered for Meals on Wheels and served on the Laughlin Heritage Foundation as a Board Member and Secretary. She also volunteered for many years with the American Cancer Society as a Board Member and Chair.
If Linda was anything, she was honest; almost to a fault. Her willingness to be direct only served to endear her to her friends and coworkers. She absolutely loved Del Rio, and spent a quarter of a century both serving and representing this city to the world.
Funeral services were held on February 29th, at St. James Episcopal Church in Del Rio. Interment was held on March 1st in Marfa. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels at the First Methodist Church of Del Rio or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
Funeral arrangements with G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home, of Del Rio LTD, 114 Fletcher Drive, Del Rio, Texas.
