Delores Smith
Delores Jean Smith passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at her Alpine home surrounded by her family.
She was born July 9, 1943 in Monahans. She married Roy Lee Smith on June 13, 1963.
She graduated from Monahans High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Sul Ross State University, a M.ED degree and ED.D from East Texas State University in Commerce.
Delores was a Professor of Education at Sul Ross State University as well as a public school teacher for Alpine ISD.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Roy Lee Smith of Alpine; her sister, Carol Neff of Pekin, Indiana; two daughters, Twila Hardaway and Kimra Rogers, both of Alpine; and grandchildren Keller, Kara, Kendyl and Kaysen Hardaway, and Kylee and Lauren Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Ruby Carney.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to The Sunshine House, 205 E. Sul Ross Avenue, Alpine, Texas 79830.
