
Guadalupe Venegas
Guadalupe “Lupe” Venegas of Marfa passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, October 22, 2017. She was 83.
The Rosary will be prayed at 10am Saturday, October 28th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be recited at 11am with Father John Paul Madanu serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Michael Madrid, David Madrid, Richard Parras, Carlos Parras, Richard Rios, and Ruben Reyes.
Lupe was born in Presidio (Loma Pelona), Texas on December 11, 1933 to Raymundo Lujan and Francisca Lujan (Herrera). She graduated from Marfa High School and was married to Manuel Venegas.
Lupe worked for Safeway in Marfa for over 25 years. She never met a stranger, and enjoyed meeting new people and interacting with them. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, as well as babysitting other children in the Marfa community.
Lupe was also a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Bereavement Society. She was very active in her church community.
She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed cooking for her family as well as going to coffee at the Dairy Queen with her close friends.
Preceding Lupe in death are her parents, Raymundo and Francisca Lujan; her husband, Manuel Venegas; and one daughter, Linda Mae Nuñez.
Those left to cherish and honor the memory of Lupe are her daughter, Gracie Parras and husband Nacho; stepson, Manuel Venegas Jr. and wife Janie; a sister, Margarita Reyes; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as many beloved friends.
