Peter Zubiate
Peter Thomas Zubiate, 47, passed away December 28, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in El Paso, Texas October 18, 1970 to Ida and Richard Zubiate.
As a baby, he relocated to Marfa, a town that remains in his heart as his childhood home, beautiful and ideal in his eyes.
He married Catherine Anne (Katie) Pell on June 10, 1995 in Wilmington, Delaware.
Peter spent the remainder of his life in San Antonio, Texas where he became an accomplished furniture maker, designer, and woodworker. He was truly committed to the creative life he built with his wife in the center of the city.
He enjoyed a magnificent circle of dedicated friends and raised his daughter, Bygoe Zubiate, to be a reflection of his admirable intelligence and sincerity.
He lived his life with honesty and loyalty to his own ideals and was accorded respect and affection by many.
He is survived by his Grandmother Cruz Zubiate, father, Richard Salas Zubiate, and his siblings Debra Carlin, Hope Espinosa, Paul Zubiate, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family, to which he was completely devoted. Joining them in grief are his wife Katie and daughter Bygoe.
Preceding him in death is his mother, Ida Ramirez Zubiate.
A memorial service will be held from 4-8pm Saturday, January 13 at The Monty + Ivy Hall, 1127 South St. Mary’s, San Antonio.
