Longtime Marfa resident Dolores Mireles Peña, 78, died September 2, 2013 in Turlock, California.

She was born April 12, 1935 in Alpine and was a homemaker for 56 years. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa.
Survivors include her husband, Marcos Salinas Peña Jr.; a son, Jessie Dave Peña and his wife Annabel; and a daughter, Joann Peña, all of Marfa; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Agustina Natera of Turlock, California and Helen Burkes of Fresno, California.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Peña; and two daughters, Mary Ann Peña and Janet Peña.
Visitation, vigil, and the holy Rosary were the afternoon and evening of Friday, September 6 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Chapel in Turlock, officiated by Manuel Simones.
Rosary and Mass of Christian burial were the morning of Friday, September 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa. Burial was in Merced Cemetery.
Odessa Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
