Elodia Vasquez Acosta

Elodia Vasquez Acosta, 84, a longtime Marfa resident but more recently of the El Paso-area community of Horizon City, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 in an El Paso hospital.

She was born September 30, 1929 in Marfa to Alejandro Vasquez and Rita Borjoquez Vasquez. She married Rodolfo Acosta in Marfa in the 1940s and was a homemaker.

Elodia and Rodolfo lived in Marfa and raised a family of six daughters, moving to the El Paso area about six years ago.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Rodolfo Acosta; six daughters, Mary Acosta and Siria Acosta, both of Marfa, Priscilla Renteria of Horizon City, JoAnn Slaughter of Houston, and Betty Huerta and Debbie Tarango, both of Odessa; also four nieces and two nephews, all named Quintela; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Rosary and the funeral Mass were the morning of Wednesday, April 16 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial in Merced Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Mt. Carmel Funeral Home of El Paso.
