Elisa Tercero

Rosary will be said in Odessa at 7pm Saturday, April 19 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. The Rosary will be recited in Marfa at 9:30am Monday, April 21 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, officiated by Fr. Mark Salas. Burial will be beside her late husband Reynaldo in Marfa’s Merced Cemetery.

Mrs. Tercero was born in La Hacienda, Texas on September 3, 1928 to the late Sabino and Tomasa (Madrid) Aguirre Sr. She married Reynaldo Y. Tercero in Marfa on September 2, 1947 and they shared almost 37 years together before separated by his death March 30, 1984. She was a maid and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Very active in her church, Elisa was a member of the Guadalupanas and the Catholic Daughters organizations for more than 30 years.

Her greatest regret was her inability to have children. Children were a delight to her, and she was devoted to her nieces and nephews. Everyone knew her as “Madrina.”

An excellent cook, Elisa loved to bake and was famous for her Christmas fruitcakes. She also found beauty in nature and had a large rock collection.

Those left to cherish Elisa’s love and memory are her brothers, Sabino Aguirre of Monahans, Manuel Aguirre of Houston, and Oscar Aguirre Sr. of Odessa; and extended family members and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sabino and Tomasa Aguirre; her husband, Reynaldo Y. Tercero; a brother, Enrique Aguirre; and three sisters, Elvira Martinez, Maria Baeza, and Elena Tarango.

Arrangements are by Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa and condolences to the family may be sent online at acreswestfuneral.com.
