Luis G. Ramirez, 90, born in Marathon on October 11, 1924, died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at his home in Alpine.
Mr. Ramirez worked at Big Bend National Park for 31 years and retired in 1982. He enjoyed his retirement for 32 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Isabel Ramirez; two sons, Jose (Enriqeta Martinez) Ramirez and Martin (Gloria Bratz) Ramirez; a daughter, Adelaida (Jose) Salmon; a sister, Blaza Hernandez; a brother, Gilberto Ramirez; also seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonifacio and Maria Gaitan Ramirez, and his siblings, Antonia, Ysidora, Manuela, Jesusita, Ignasia, and Inez.
Rosary was the evening of Monday, February 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon. Mass of the Resurrection was the morning of Tuesday, February 24 at the church, with burial in the Marathon cemetery.
Pallbearers are Robert Hernandez, Robert Hernandez Jr., Eloy Hernandez, Jesus Portillo, Lily Portillo, and Romaldo Pena.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, you may donate to the American Diabetes Association.
